Dear Classmates,
Well, the Triennial Reunion of 2005 for all classes from 1965 and earlier is over and it is fitting to recap the evening with some post reunion information and pictures. The turnout exceeded our expecations and was very close to the capacity of Foster's Downeast Clambake facility. All in all, Foster's served 368 lobster dinners, 67 chicken, 13 veggie, and 2 special meals to 450 YHS alumni, guests, and friends. John Main '31 was the oldest alumni present. Every class year from 1934 to 1965 was represented. There were four non-alumni teachers present and at least two alumni who later taught at YHS. The class of 1965 had the most attendees at 26. The alumni traveling the farthest came from Oak Harbor WA, which is 3,214 miles from York, while your humble correspondent only traveled 3,129 miles! Patricia Maddocks Herpst would have traveled the farthest, coming from Fairbanks, Alaska, but due to husband Frank's illness had to cancel the trip. It would have been 4540 miles! There were 26 of the 50 states represented with Maine, New Hampshire and Florida coming in 1, 2 and 3 in atttendance. 235 of the 295 YHS alumni came from these three states.
My picture taking was not very organized but thanks to Elena Bragdon Fiske, and Carole Rizzo Robinson, we have a good selection. I have placed some identifiable pictures on the Internet. Big thanks to Ern Grover, Carole Robinson, Gerry Bardwell and Elena Fiske for providing the identifying information and most of the pictures.

The York High School Alumni Reunion Committee planned the 2005 Triennial Reunion at a new location this year. All spouses, significant others and friends were welcome to attend the festivities. The classes of 1955 and 1965 planned events on the same weekend to avoid conflicting dates and extra travel for those from away. This year, the Triennial Reunion celebration was held at Foster's Downeast Clambake facility.
Since the Reunion was held soon after hurricane Katrina had devastated New Orleans, the committee decided to provide some relief funds for a family that had relocated to York after the hurricane. This family received a gift of approximately $2000 as a result of the collection taken during the evening and matching funds from the Reunion account. Foster's did a fantastic job of serving meals to so many guests in a very efficient manner. The reunion committee worked hard to locate all alumni, but you can imagine that it is an impossible task to secure addresses for everyone from the class of 1921 to the class of 1965. Our data base has 963 alumni from class of 1921 to class of 1965 with known addresses and 143 more with address unknown. We are aware of 238 with known working e-mail addresses.
